The Super Falcons of Nigeria will on 8th of December 2018 know their group for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Thomas Dennerby’s ladies sealed qualification to the World Cup following their hard-earned semifinal victory over the Lionesses of Cameroon on Tuesday in Accra at the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) 2018 holding in Ghana.

They were the first African team to pick qualification ticket for the senior women’s world cup happening next year. South Africa, their opponent in Saturday’s final joined them some hours later on Tuesday. Africa’s remaining representative will be known when Mali and Cameroon square up against each other in the Third-place match.

The Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 will be held on 8 December 2018. The participating teams can’t wait, so also the fans. As well, football lovers in the European country are eager to know which cities they will be able to watch the matches.

Nine (9) French cities will be host to Nigeria and co. Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes have all been chosen to organise the event in 2019. The opening match of the 2019 tournament will be played in Paris, while the semi-finals and final will take place in Lyon.

Dennerby wants to ‘take the trophy back to Nigeria’

Meanwhile, Thomas Dennerby, Head Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria has stated his intent on bringing home the AWCON trophy.

Dennerby was speaking after the Cameroon triumph:

“On Saturday, we have the opportunity. We will go in there and give it our best shot and take the trophy back to Nigeria.”

Speaking further, the Swede says:

“The positive from this tournament is our defence is very good. We have a compact team.”

Also, the 59 year old is already looking forward to the World Cup in France.

“Going to the World Cup, we need to improve the way we attack. We need to create chances and make the best use of the opportunities that come our way,” he concludes.
