Nigeria International, Alex Iwobi has stated his delight at laying off the ball for teammate, Alexandre Lacazette as Arsenal shared the spoils at the Emirates.

Iwobi assisted Frenchman, Lacazette’s equaliser against Liverpool on Saturday after coming on in the 68th minute. The 22 year old continues his impressive form this term for club and country.

He writes on his official Instagram page:

“Passion!! Wanted more. But we’ll settle for the point…Happy to help assist my bro…@LacazetteAlex”

At Arsenal coach, Unai Emery’s pre-match press conference at London Colney, the Spaniard says on Iwobi’s form so far:

“He is very young and I think he is in an improving moment in his career. We need to also push him to improve because he has the quality and the capacity.
“The first thing is behaviour in training, finding ways to improve every day, and then to give him what he can improve tactically, individually.
“I think a lot of it is confidence. Every player needs confidence. Not only when playing but when we are together. I want every player to feel this confidence but also with a very big demand from us on himself to work every day.”

Furthermore, the coach revealed the advice he has given the Nigerian:

“It’s try, try, try and try. If you are doing a good action individually or not continue with the confidence to try another and to try again. After that, good commitment every day, good behaviour every day and feel together with your team and respect decisions and respect your teammates.
“There is only one thing I know and that is work. You are working, you are winning this confidence every day, then your quality is there to be better in each match.”

Shearer impressed by Iwobi

Meanwhile, a legend is impressed by Iwobi’s outputs. In his post match analysis on BBC, Alan Shearer, Premier League’s record goalscorer described Iwobi’s pass as “beautiful”.

“It was a beautiful pass and the build up to the goal from Iwobi, beautiful. It was just in the way he picked out the run,” says Shearer.

Next up for Iwobi and Arsenal is a Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday, before they confront Wolves in the Premier League next weekend.
