Nigerian forward, Henry Onyekuru has identified ‘team spirit’ as the secret to his club, Galatasaray’s three-nil away victory over Kayserispor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Saturday.

The Everton loanee found the back of the net in the 18th and 74th minute as the Istanbul club now sit 2nd on the log behind Başakşehir with 23 points from 12 games. It was the 21 year old’s 4th goal in 10 matches in the Süper Lig in 2018-19.

Also, it was a perfect response from The Lions after their loss to Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League in the midweek, and Onyekuru is delighted.

He writes on his social media pages:

“No better way to bounce back from the set back in the week. Great team spirit a clean sheet and two goals . All Glory to God!”

Onyekuru is called up to replace injured Odion Ighalo for the Super Eagles upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in South Africa. Ighalo suffered an injury while on club duty in China.

Onyekuru scored his first goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2-1 friendly encounter win against Liberia in September having made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly win over Togo on 1 June 2017.

He face a battle for a place in the starting 11 with Watford’s Isaac Success.
