Ekene Som Mekwunye’s recently completed movie, ‘Light in the dark’ is featuring stars Joke Silva, Ngozi Nwosu, Saidi Balogun, Rita Dominic and Kalu Ikeagwu.
‘Light in the dark’ tells the story of two lovers, who against the wish and permission of their mothers became a couple and began a family. The lovebirds are willing to go to any length for their love.
The movie scheduled for release on January 25, 2019, is powered by Riverside Production.
Surrounded by the darkness of one night’s ordeal perpetrated by a character played by Saidi Balogun, a couple – Rita Dominic and Kalu Ikeagwu – seeks the light that only love can bring.
Light In The Dark touches domestic violence and intertribal marriages
Som Mekwunye, who also doubles as the Director says of the movie: “It would show the effects of domestic violence, what it does to women and more importantly, how best victims can handle it.”
He continues: “The film also shows a little of the friction in inter-tribal marriages and the way men look at issue in such marriages. This film would be a tool to draw awareness of this scourge to a lot of ladies in Africa and as well as look at how it affects families when it happens to married women.”
Other performers in the film include: Kiki Omeili , Nonso Odogwu, Abimbola Ademoye, Big Mickey, Prince Unigwe, Angel Onyinyechi Unigwe, Doddy Abili, Richard Kanayo Mekwunye, Maxwell Ihuoma
and Marie Awolaja.
Last year, the award-winning Producer at a press briefing in Lagos divulged his outfit is about to make a flick that will pass his message across to the audience in the most entertaining way.
