New Technical Adviser (TA) of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Wikki Tourists FC, Aliyu Zubairu was on Monday unveiled by the management of the club.
In a brief but colourful ceremony at the Conference room of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, Chairman of the Club, Auwalu Babajada says the coach was selected based on the conviction of the management that he has what it takes to handle the club, considering his record and credentials.
He therefore charge the new T.A to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Responding, the new Technical Adviser expressed happiness on the opportunity given to him by the club, promising that Wikki Tourists will be the team to beat.
Coach Zubairu therefore solicit the support and understanding of every Wikki supporter to achieve the desired goal.
The new Wikki gaffer holds a degree in Physical and Health Education (PHE) from University of Maiduguri, CAF B and C coaching licenses, Diploma in football from the National Institute for Sports (NIS) Lagos and level four grade from the Brazilian Institute for Sports.
Coach Zubairu has worked under coaches like Kadiri Ikhana, John Obuh, and most recently, Abdu Maikaba at Akwa United as Chief Coach.
Coach Zubairu who replaces Bala Nikyu signs for one season which is subject to possible extension.
Nikyu has national team assignment as he is Head Coach of the Nigerian U17 women, the Flamingos.
It seems the Nigerian league is in a period of TA appointments. Last week Friday, Maikaba was unveiled as the new TA of Plateau United.
Maikaba stirred Akwa United to glory at the last Aiteo Cup.
The 53 year old quit his role as coach of Zubairu’s new employers, Wikki Tourists to sign a two-year-contract with The Promise Keepers in 2016.
