Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has congratulated his team for their hard-earned victory over the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match on Tuesday.
Speaking after the match, the German tactician also pinpoints the game at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri, Sfax in Tunisia was a huge test of character.
“I congratulate my team for this victory. It was a huge test of our character. We lost a 2 goal lead but fought hard instead of dropping our heads. We will stay humble because we have not qualified for AFCON yet. I can assure you that we will keep fighting,” Rohr vows.
It was a nervy win for the Eagles who initially threw away a two-goal lead but in the end collected maximum points to win 3-2 thanks to in-form Odion Ighalo.
Ighalo netted a double while Captain, Ahmed Musa was also on target. The goals makes it 5 goals in 3 days for the Changchun Yatai of China hitman.
The win ensures Nigeria go top of Group E on 9 points, 1 point better than South Africa who occupy second place.

Earlier, Rohr had predicted a tougher challenge in Sfax. And it turned out to be true when the North Africans clawed back into the game through Mohamed Noureddine Abdusalam Zubya and Ahmad Benali.
A total of 24 teams will qualify to play in the final tournament for the continental tourney to be staged in Cameroon. Coincidentally, Cameroon are the defending champions. After the round of matches end in March 2019, the group winner and runner-up qualifies for the 2019 AFCON.
Nigeria has failed to qualify (twice) for the AFCON since triumphing in South Africa 5 years ago. They are 17 times appearer and three-time winners.
