Manchester United midfielder, Marouane Fellaini has lost his afro ahead of his birthday. The Belgian turns 31 soon and he chose to appear different in a post on his official Instagram handle.
‘Felly’ as he is fondly called has kept his trademark hair since he moved to England from his native Belgium years ago. But he has now chosen to go back to how he used to be when he was at Standard Liège.
Fellaini is not picked by Belgium coach, Roberto Martinez for their upcoming matches. He has has recently overcome an injury and will be allowed to rest this week. It is an agreement between Belgium coaching crew and Manchester United.
He came off the bench and inspired United’s comeback in Turin as Jose Mourinho‘s team won 2-1 in the Champions League at Juventus last week Wednesday and he was involved in the Manchester Derby on Sunday.
However, the former Everton man has missed United’s last three Premier League games before the loss at the Etihad through a groin problem and although he is managing the injury, both his club and country feel he would benefit from a rest during the upcoming fortnight to complete his recuperation.
Belgium play Iceland at home, before travelling to Switzerland in a clash that is likely to decide who finishes top of the group.
Fellaini has played over 250 games in England and is often manager, Jose Mourinho’s go-to option from the bench for United, giving them a more direct option when chasing a game or to defend long balls forward when holding a lead.
