The detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was on Monday rushed to a hospital over “excruciating heart condition and strange growths under his two armpits”.
TOP MEDIA reports that according to Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, IPOB’s Lead Counsel, the Department of State Services (DSS) lacks the needed medical facility to manage his client’s “deteriorating health condition”.
Ejiofor’s statement reads: “We visited our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu today, being the 27th day of February, 2023 at the Headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) to update him on pertinent developments on our pending matters and to more importantly, ascertain his current health status.
“We were delayed for over 2 hours before I was eventually allowed in to see Onyendu.
“During our briefings, Onyendu informed me of an urgent situation arising from his excruciating heart condition, and strange growths under his two armpits, which demands for urgent thorough medical review and possible solution.
“Onyendu was immediately rushed to the DSS ill-equipped medical facility for possible management, and the procedure lasted for hours, which was what caused the delay in the commencement of the visit.
“Onyendu was still in pains throughout the period my visit lasted. Onyendu told me that the said medical condition has been regular of late, because the DSS has no facility to manage his deteriorating health condition. Other directives arising from our professional briefing remain private.
“As usual, Onyendu thanked Ezigbo UmuChineke, who have remained resolute and stood shoulder to shoulder with him in this moment of trial. He urged you all never to relent in your solidarity and prayers.
“Thank you all, Ezigbo UmuChineke, and remain blessed. We move!”
