At least five soldiers guarding oil workers’ quarters in Bakassi Peninsula have been shot dead by suspected loyalists of Biafra separatists.
TOP MEDIA learnt that the incident which happened around 8 am on Friday, June 16, in Abana also left three oil workers injured.
Eye witnesses said the militants numbering five were on white garments.
Residents have fled the area following the attack.
This media platform reports that Biafrans are calling for a separate state of Biafra. They are also calling on the Nigerian government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The Biafra Nations League (BnL) had warned that there will not be peace in Bakassi, a peninsula controlled by both Nigeria and Cameroon until Kanu is released. They called on both countries to stop drilling of oil in the area.
