MIMS Comprehensive College Celebrates Excellence at 2024 Prize Giving Day

It was an auspicious and colourful occasion. The scenery of the hall exhibited style and class against a symmetry of green decorations and exciting chirping of parents, students and guests alike.

The neatly arranged prizes, in varying forms and fashion, heightened the enthusiasm of the students.

It was the 2024 Prize Giving Day (PGD) of MIMS Comprehensive College (MCC), Bajulaiye, Shomolu, Lagos.

The occasion which was held on the 20th of July, 2024 at the Shomolu Central Mosque, was graced by dignitaries comprising MIMS Educational Services Management Board chaired by Prince AbdulMujeeb Ogungbayi, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the alumni of the school, and a host of other guests.

Themed “Youth and wealth acquisition, parents on call”, the college showcased different prizes garnered in the current year from competitions around the country—a testament to the academic and moral excellence upon which her foundation is built.

The prizes include 1st position (Senior and Junior) Prestige National Competition, champion LEAMSP Quiz Competition, Shomolu  Zone, 2nd runner-up, AEI Competition, 2024, 1st runner-up, NUJ Qur’an Competition, 1st Position, YPO College MSSN Day, 1st SELIAT  National Qur’an competition.

While delivering his keynote address, the Chairman of the MIMS management board, Prince AbdulMujeeb Ogungbayi bemoaned the increased level of social menace and youthful delinquency like kidnapping, ‘Yahoo Plus’, and raping which he said has made peaceful relationships become a relic. He charged the parents with the need to be conscious and focused on their responsibilities as the children are, in most cases, replicas of their parents in action, reasoning, social and psychological acts.

He said:

Our students of today are equally growing, educating, and socialising in the same environment where all these evils exist. You need to protect yourself and the children and guide them towards attaining pristine Islam devoid of manipulations.

These are questions begging for answers from every one of you. Remember, we are all answerable to our Lord, Allah, as a shepherd on these young adults.”

Furthermore, Prince AbdulMujeeb tasked the parents to not only acquire wealth but also to be responsible and role models in character, knowledge, and spiritual guidance to their children.

TOP MEDIA reports that students who distinguished themselves in learning and knowledge acquisition, across departments, in the academic session were recognised and celebrated.
