Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Sunday, June 4, claimed that “during the campaign trail, ALL presidential candidates campaigned on subsidy removal.”
TOP MEDIA reports that Sanwo-Olu said this during his media address at the post-inauguration Thanksgiving church service.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was appealing to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) not to embark on any strike action over fuel subsidy removal by his mentor, the Bola Tinubu administration. Before the back-pedal on Monday, June 5, the NLC had threatened to go on strike starting Wednesday, June 7.
TOP MEDIA fact checks the governor’s claim.
This claim is false, as Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) never did. In fact, it is on record that he spoke against its removal during the electioneering, as seen here and here.
