Enyimba FC midfielder, Akanni Elijah, says it has been incredible experience training under the head coach of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants, Finidi George.
TOP MEDIA reports that George, 51, is a Nigerian football legend, who won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), UEFA Champions League (UCL), and Eredivisie during his playing days.
Recall that Elijah joined Enyimba in September 2022, having spent several seasons with MFM FC of Lagos.
An attacking midfielder with the striking ability to string passes through a needle’s eye, Akanni also functions effectively in deeper central midfield positions.
“It has been an amazing one (training under Coach Finidi). It’s even more amazing because he (Finidi) has also played the game and he did it at the highest level. I’ve learnt a lot from him,” Akanni told TOP MEDIA in an exclusive chat.
On his personal goals for the new season, the 21-year-old pledged to support the team in every possible way. “I want to make sure the team is successful. If possible by God’s grace, win the NPFL title,” he said.
He also has this message for Enyimba fans worldwide: “I’m happy to be with you guys and I promise to give in my best on and off the pitch.
“All I need is your support to boost me, and surely, you will see the best of me.
“Enyimba fans have been one of the best fans in NPFL and I have dreamt to be with them. I love you all – mighty fans.”
