A Nigerian woman took to social media on Friday, October 11, to raise an alarm about an alleged kidnapping involving a GIG Motors bus en route from Port Harcourt to Abuja.
According to her post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the passengers were abducted, with only the driver returning to the terminal.
The incident sparked public concern after the woman claimed that GIG Motors had not issued a statement or contacted the police, and that they appeared to be “protecting the driver from giving an account.” The post quickly circulated, increasing pressure on GIG Motors to address the claims.
By Saturday evening, GIG Motors, also known as God is Good Motors (GIGM), released an official statement confirming the abduction.
The company expressed “deep concern and compassion” for the affected families, pledging full cooperation with law enforcement.
According to the driver’s account, all passengers were abducted, except a nursing mother, whose continuous attempts to calm her crying child reportedly led the kidnappers to release her along with the driver.
The driver and the released passenger later reported the incident to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt.
GIG Motors stated that the driver is currently assisting the police in their investigation and assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safe return of the missing passengers.
