Likemind Model Academy, known for its academic excellence in Nigeria and West Africa, recently achieved victories in Ogun State.
TOP MEDIA reports that the academy excelled in various competitions against champions from all local governments and senatorial districts in Ogun State.
The event took place at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, on June 1, 2024, with the theme ‘Consolidating on a Legacy of Excellence’.
Master Abdurahaman Akorede Daud of SS2 represented Likemind Model Academy and won the spelling bee competition.
He defeated many local champions to emerge victorious.
The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Mrs. Noimat Salako-Oyedele, who represented Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, congratulated Daud and presented him with an Award for Excellence as the best student in Ogun State.
Likemind Model Academy was also recognised as the best school in the competition.
The event was organised to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), founded in 1954 by Alhaji Abdulateef Adegbite.
Notable guests at the event included Alhaji Thabit Wale Shonaike (Chairman of the occasion), Deputy President of MUSWEN, Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, former Governor of Ogun State, Ambassador Sharafa Tunji Ishola, OFR, former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Oba Prof. Saka Adeola Adisa Matemilola, Paramount Ruler of Owu Kingdom, Alhaja Salmat Badr, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Professor Afeez Oladosu of the University of Ibadan, Professor Taofeek Azeez of the University of Abuja, Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu of Ogun Central Senatorial District, and other dignitaries.
Master Abdurahaman Akorede Daud expressed his happiness and gratitude, dedicating his award to his parents and Likemind Model Academy.
“I dedicate my award to my parents and Likemind Model Academy for helping me become a world-class champion. I pray to maintain my outstanding performance in WAEC, NECO, UTME, and throughout my university life,” Daud said.
The teachers in charge, Mrs. Oguntade Nofisah and Mrs. Adigun Khadijah, thanked the organisers for the opportunity to showcase their student’s skills.
The Director of Likemind Model Academy, Alhaji Oladele Abdulwasiu, thanked the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Alhaja) Noimat Salako-Oyedele, and all other dignitaries, panelists, and judges for their support in developing future leaders.
He also congratulated the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Ogun State Area Unit, for its significant contributions, noting the leadership of the late Alhaji Barrister (Dr.) Abdullateef Adegbite, CON.
