Enyimba International of Aba midfielder, Elijah Akanni has expressed his delight with his first goal for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants.
TOP MEDIA reports that Enyimba defeated their hosts Nasarawa United 2-1 in a thrilling league contest at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday.
Akanni, 21, fired home a powerful shot in the 32nd to hand the People’s Elephant the lead – his first official goal for the club and in Coach Finidi George’s side’s opening match of the season.
Imo Obot increased the lead five minutes later before Oche Josiah reduced the deficit for Nasarawa United three minutes from time with a header after Ojo Olorunleke denied Ikenna Offor from the spot.
Reacting to getting on the scoresheet for the NPFL heavyweights, Akanni, a former MFM FC player, wrote on his official Facebook page: “So happy to score my first goal for Enyimba FC and excited for the maximum points away from home. Great game lads, c’mon.”
