Over 100 Nigerian squash players have registered their interest to participate in the maiden edition of the John Hett Sports Foundation (JHSF’s) tournament.
TOP MEDIA understands that this is the highest entry received for a PSA closed tournament in Nigeria for the year 2023. PSA stands for Professional Squash Association.
Wasiu Bello, the JHSF’s Tournament Director (TD), also described the competition as “the highest PSA closed satelite tournament in Nigeria so far this year (2023)”. This media platform learnt that the overall winner accrues 30 ranking points, runner-up 19.5, and semifinalists 12 points.
Additionally, the JHSF’s squash tournament is the highest cash prize PSA closed satelite tournament in the country. The champion goes home with N400,000 (about 550 US dollars) and athletes who reach the round of 16 are entitled to a share of the prize pool.
While the event will be held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, from October 25 to October 28, 2023, the entry deadline closes on Sunday, October 1.
