MIMS Nursery and Primary School Bajulaiye, Shomolu, Lagos, on Thursday Muharam12, 1446A.H, July 18, 2024, came together to celebrate the graduation of its latest batch of pupils.
There, the Board Chairman, Prince Abdul Mujeeb Ogungbayi, delivered a wonderful speech that highlighted the school’s commitment to academic excellence, and spiritual/moral standards.
The Board Chairman’s speech piqued the interest of the guests and parents alike when he said “Today’s address is in two fold. First is to honour our young brains that have distinguished themselves in learning and character while in school; second is to felicitate with ourselves on the occasion of hijrah 1446 AH”.
He also asked for Allah’s abundant blessing, unprecedented favours, and mercies upon everyone.
TOP MEDIA reports that the event was themed ‘Youth And Wealth Acquisition, Parents on Call’.
In his speech, Ogungbayi charged parents with the need to wake up to their parental roles which he said is crumbling.
“The level of social menace and youthful delinquency is on the high side. Peaceful relationships are now becoming a relic. Banditry, kidnapping, ‘Yahoo Plus’, rituals, and raping are now the order of the day.
“Perpetrators of these evil acts are all product of our society, mostly youths who lust for quick wealth”.
The Board Chairman cited the recent case in Mushin area of Lagos State where nine armed kidnappers were gunned down by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). According to him, this is a “testament to the fact that parenting has lost value and most parents can no longer control their wards”.
The Chairman pleaded with guests and parents that children of today are growing and socialising in the same environment where all these evils exist. He stressed that protection of the children and guiding them towards attaining pristine Islam devoid of manipulations is a priority.
The seasoned educator reminded the audience that as shepherds, they are answerable to their Lord, Allah.
Prince Ogungbayi reiterated thus:
“The purpose of our creation is not only to acquire wealth but also to be responsible parents and role models in character, knowledge, and spiritual guidance to our children. Hence, parenting is a very huge task for everyone, and it requires aggressive approaches in some cases”.
Furthermore, the Chairman’s message also borders on Hijrah. He admonished everyone to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s spiritual guidance, social co-existence, and economic advancement.
