LASUMEGA/LASUCOM’s Muslim Alumni Reunion: “Nigeria Missing Out On Great Role Models”, Says Sulaiman Aledeh

Popular Nigerian journalist Sulaiman Aledeh, says the country is “missing out on great role models” because of the absence of strategic leadership and planning.

TOP MEDIA reports that speaking on Sunday at the Lagos State University Muslim Engineering Graduates Association, LASUMEGA; Lagos State University College of Medicine, LASUCOM’s Muslim Alumni (LMA), 2023 reunion held in Ikeja, Aledeh said citizens, in their respective rights, owe Nigeria the obligation of being great individuals and leaders.

“As Muslims, we must identify our purpose and collaborate to improve Nigeria through leadership qualities,” Aledeh said.

He added: “Nigeria is also missing out on great role models, and as a result….leadership.

“We must bring back the need to have great Islamic role models who combine every form of what this life entails.

“We owe our religion, our country, the duty of being great leaders on our path, and that would not be achieved without strategic leadership and planning.”

‘Align Your Goals With National Interest’ – Dr Moshood Bello Tells Nigerian professionals

Also at the event, the Keynote Speaker, Dr Moshood Bello advised Nigerian Professionals in Engineering and Medical fields to align their goals for the greater good of the nation rather than limiting them to personal gains.

Bello, the Director of MBA, Keele Business School United Kingdom (UK), said limiting one’s goals to narrow interests will amount to nothing in the midst of the ‘current hardship’ in the country.

Speaking on the theme, “Strategic Leadership and Effective Collaboration for a Greater Nigeria,” Dr Bello noted that Strategic Leadership and Effective Collaboration are key principles that can enable professionals make positive impacts in shaping Nigeria’s future, adding that it “required careful planning, risk assessment and adaptability.”

Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of unity, cooperation and collaboration in the nation’s journey to progress.

While urging the professionals to prepare for the many challenges ahead, Dr Bello encouraged them to contribute their skills to the development of Nigeria.

“You cannot achieve this alone. We must embrace the power of collaboration, and collaboration is about working together, leveraging our collective strengths and pooling our resources for a common purpose. It’s about breaking down barriers and building bridges of understanding,” he said.

Dignitaries like the chief financial officer/Executive Director for MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, Modupe Kadiri; and Saheed Balogun, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Governor on Science and Technology attended the event.

Dahua, MAAT Solutions, MTN Nigeria and Pro Ice Ltd did company presentations.

Apart from the reunification, participants were involved in networking sessions, games, visit to Bab-Es-Salam orphanage home, among others.

The LASUMEGA and LMA donated gifts to the orphanage as part of its social corporate responsibility.

Speaking after the donation during the donation, a top member of LASUMEGA, Engr. Yusuf Majolagbe said that gesture was their own little way of giving back to society after working throughout the year and appreciating God had done for the firm.

He said that it was the associations’ way of trying to make life better for the less-privileged in society.
