A presidential candidate in the 2019 election and aspirant in the 2023 poll, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, says Nigeria needs a government of national unity because the country craves “consensus” on how to crush poverty, improve security, and grow the economy, among others.
TOP MEDIA reports that Moghalu, a former Deputy-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), shared his thoughts via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday night.
“No matter who wins the presidency in 2023, I believe we will need a Government of National Unity, assembled from across a wide spectrum of both partisan politicians and technocrats,” Moghalu said.
“This will facilitate consensus on how to crush poverty, improve security, grow the economy, and achieve the all-important constitutional restructuring that is the recipe for longer term stability and unity.
“Any attempt at winner-take-all will not work well for our country.
“We face too many fundamental challenges.
“Whoever wins must graduate from politician to statesman. But what will be most important in assembling such a government are 1. competence and 2. political will.”
