Houston-based sociopolitical organization, World Igbo Congress (WIC) on Friday criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged fraud.
TOP MEDIA reports that the WIC said this following INEC’s declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the president-elect of Nigeria.
The group also said that it will be “an uphill task” for the distraught candidates to ‘reclaim their mandate’.
“As Nigerians continue to grapple with the reality of the election, it became clear how INEC and their gang doctored the results.
“Going to court to adjudicate what is written on the result sheet is an uphill task and they know it.
“Now it takes only Nigerians to salvage Nigeria,” WIC said via its official Twitter account with an accompanying viral video of a Labour Party official in Lagos State accusing a Presiding Officer of altering the election result of a Polling Unit.
This newspaper reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party have filed suits at the Presidential Election Court (PEC), Abuja challenging Tinubu’s emergence as president. The parties accused the electoral body, INEC, of irregularities in the just-concluded election.
