Cheers as MIMS Students Sweep NUJ, Lagos Quran Awards

Students of MIMS Group of Schools, Lagos, clinched second and third positions in the junior category of male and female Qur’an competition at an event of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, organised in collaboration with the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit.

Champions of all local government or area councils in Lagos state, both males and females in junior and senior categories competed at the event.

Buthainah Sherifdeen of MIMS Comprehensive College JSS3 represented Bariga Area Council MSSN and emerged 1st runner up (2nd position) while Hassan Adeyemi of MIMS Comprehensive College JSS2 and Haneefah Saheed of MIMS Comprehensive College JSS3 represented Shomolu Area Council MSSN male and female junior categories and emerged third, respectively.

TOP MEDIA reports that the programme was held in Combo Hall of the Lagos Television (LTV), Lateef Jakande Way Agidingbi, Ikeja, with the theme ‘Islam and Sanity of Life’.

The crème de la crème of Lagos Muslim community were in attendance.

The Chief Guest Speaker of the occasion, Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, who is the National Missioner of Ansa-ru-deen Society of Nigeria, delivered a lecture titled ‘LGBTQ: Protecting Sanctity of the Ummah’.

In a similar vein, Dr. (Mrs.) Aminah Ige-Ariyibi of the Department of Mathematics, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, spoke on ‘Mitigating Marital Discord Occasioned by Economic Crisis’.
