Oniru Sends Congratulatory Message As INEC Recognises Omoaje As Action Alliance’s National Chairman

Alhaji Ayinla Oniru, the Lagos State Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), on Tuesday, July 18, congratulated the party’s members globally after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gave recognition to Adekunle Rufai Omoaje as the authentic National Chairman of the party.

It would be recalled that some courts, including an Ogun State High Court, the Federal High Court sitting In Abuja and the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal had ordered INEC to recognise Omoaje as the national chairman of the AA. For a long period of time, INEC failed to honour the orders of the court.

INEC had until recently recognized  Kenneth Udeze as the national chairman of the party, whereas Udeze had since been suspended and subsequently expelled from the party in accordance with the party’s constitution and the approval of the members of the think-tank committee of the party.

Udeze continued to parade himself as the national chairman of the party despite various court judgments that gave recognition to Omoaje who emerged as the national chairman of the party at the party’s lawfully constituted convention held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

On Tuesday, July 11, INEC retraced its step as it formally recognised Omoaje as the authentic and genuine national chairman of the party, thus published his name on the commission’s website.

In a statement he signed, sent to TOP MEDIA NIGERIA, Oniru expressed optimism that the AA will become stronger with the development.

He said:

“On behalf of Action Alliance Lagos State led by me, Alhaji Ayinla Oniru and my state executive members as well as major stakeholders, we congratulate Action Alliance members across the globe for the new dawn in INEC recognition of our indefatigable Chairman, Dr Rufai Omoaje as the Chairman of the party after several court orders issued to the INEC.

“We appreciate Dr Omoaje for his doggedness and resolve to follow all due process to bring sanity to party politics as much as his staunch belief in the rule of law.

“We are undaunted that with this latest development, the party will become stronger and achieve better after several months of ups and down while balkanizing the party structure thereby affecting our lots during the last general elections.

“Without doubt, Dr Omoaje and his team will definitely get us the needed rhythm to soar higher.

“We congratulate our National Chairman and other National Executive members for their tenacity over the years. Best of prosperous wishes ahead.”
